SCULPTURES - ART- PAINTINGS

Douglas Clark

Douglas B. Clark is a Texas sculptor and painter who specializes in wildlife art. Clark prefers to work from life and his own photographs and field sketches. He can often be found sketching, painting, or sculpting at the Fort Worth Zoo and at the Fort Worth Stockyards National  Historic District as well as at annual events like the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show and The Texas Cutting Horse Futurity.

Clark's work is greatly influenced by his extensive camping trips across the western United States and Canada.  His favorite animals to depict, the longhorn, American bison or buffalo, and grizzly bear are all residents of this region. Clark’s sculptures capture the essential qualities and personality of each animal that he creates.

His work may be seen at the John B. Strong Gallery In Santa Fe, New Mexico, Reily Fine Art in Estes Park, Colorado, in Texas at The Gallery at the Frame Up in Fort Worth, David Dike Fine Art in Dallas, Prellop Fine Art in Salado, and the Insight Gallery in Fredericksburg.  Clark's work is in both public and private collections. He has a large scale installation of a family of ducks at Watters Creek in the city of Allen, Texas.

Douglas has had a lifelong love of both art and wildlife. He has worked to further his art education by attending workshops and classes with masters of both sculpture and painting including  Bruce Greene, Martin Grelle, Sandy Scott, Tim Schinabarger, Garland Weeks,  Scott Myers and Cynthia Rigden. He is a member of  the National  Sculpture Society, the Outdoor Painters Society, and the Texas Artists Coalition.

He is an art teacher with the Fort Worth Independent school District where he has taught for over 20 years. In addition he teaches summer workshops at both public and private schools in sculpture, painting, and drawing. It is his great pleasure to encourage and develop the artistic talents of his students.
